STORY HIGHLIGHTS
While many Chinese students spent their first few post-graduate years in an "ant clan," those who study abroad often stay in the country after graduating to earn experience.
Recently, the UK toughed post-graduate VISA requirements for foreign students, and the changes sparked a lot of confusion among students studying abroad --- including, fears of tuition hikes.
But, as Lifestyles learned in London, students have nothing to worry about!
When the UK recently toughened post-graduate VISA requirements for foreign students, a storm of rumored other changes began.
Among them, rumors of higher tuition fees and a cap on foreign students able to study in the country.
But, according to UK education officials, there is no truth to any of the supposed changes.
SOUNDBITE: DR JOANNA NEWMAN, UK EDUCATION OFFICIAL
"International students play an incredibly important role in our higher education system. There is no cap on international students and there is no increase in fees for international students to pay. So we are welcoming in fact more this year than ever before."
Clearing up the rumors was a must for the UK, which attracts more overseas students per capita than any major higher education system in the world.
And, that number is expected to increase!
According to government estimates, international student demand for a UK higher education is expected to grow by 8% every year through 2020.
